John T. Ambrosio is the founding member of the law firm of Ambrosio & Tomczak. John concentrates his practice in the areas of complex commercial and environmental litigation, environmental compliance and enforcement, commercial transactions, and commercial and residential real estate transactions and litigation. Having been admitted to the practice of law for nearly 40 years, he has extensive trial and transactional experience, regularly appearing before all State and Federal Courts of New Jersey, and representing clients before various State agencies and local boards. John has represented individuals and business organizations engaged in the collection and disposal of solid waste, recycling collection and processing, renewable energy consulting, real estate development, insurance brokerage, retail food distribution, trucking and transportation, taxi and limousine services, towing services, construction and demolition services, computer software and hardware vendors as well as many local small businesses.
Between 1988 and 1992, John was a Deputy Attorney General with the New Jersey Division of Law where he was assigned to represent the Division of Consumer of Consumer Affairs, the Bureau of Securities and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. In 1992, John entered private practice with the Law Offices of Gabriel M. Ambrosio, a former New Jersey State Senator, with offices in Lyndhurst, New Jersey. While associated with the Law Offices of Gabriel M. Ambrosio, John was assigned the responsibility of representing the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commissioners
In March 2006, John formed his own practice and has concentrated in the area of providing general corporate and counseling services and litigation services to the solid waste and recycling industry. Presently, he represents approximately 60 business entities that are engaged in the collection and disposal of solid waste and recyclable materials. Among other services that are routinely provided are the following:
- Business formation and general corporate services.
- Initial application, licensing and compliance with the A-901 Law and the Solid Waste Utility Control Act.
- Litigation defense provided in connection with environmental enforcement actions initiated by the NJDEP and county health and utility authorities under the Solid Waste Management Act.
- Litigation under the Public Contracts Law and review of municipal bid specifications and bid proposals.
- Transactional work and preparation of transactional filings with the NJDEP.
John graduated cum laude from Seton Hall University School of Law in 1987. He earned a B.A. in accounting and economics from the Catholic University of America in 1983.
